New Genomic Testing Available

Holstein Canada and Semex partners (CIAQ, Eastern Breeders, Gencor, and Westgen) have joined together in order to offer genomic testing of females for all dairy producers. The program, GenoTest, gives breeders the option of using either the 3K or 50K SNP test. With GenoTest, they also have the option to submit DNA samples via the traditional hair sample or nasal swabs.

Matriarchs of the Breed Sale Held

Doug and Melanie Nifong of Me-Do Meadows hosted the Matriarchs of the Breed Sale on Saturday, August 28th in Orfordville, WI. The sale averaged $4,634 on 93 lots with Lot 1, R-Z Baxter Caramel (VG-88), topping the sale at $100,000. Caramel was consigned by Robert Goldmann of Iowa and purchased by Danny-Pierre Rondeau, Ferme Gillette, and Ferme Maryclerc of Quebec, Canada.  Lot 7, a 1st choice female Atwood or Goldwyn out of Quality-Ridge Stormi Hazel (2E-95), undefeated in milking form and fresh again just in time for the big shows! The choice was consigned by the Hazel Syndicate of CT and purchased by All-America Dairy in New York.

Ms Atlees Shottle Aubry-ET, the only Shottle daughter in the world out of Atlee herself, just scored VG-88 with an EX-MS as a 2 year-old! Aubry is the dam of featured donor Allyndale-I Sanchez Angelica-ET who is owned by Holstein Plaza member, Passion Holstein of Quebec.
