Visions of "EX"cellence Sale Summary
The Visions of “EX”cellence sale took place on Saturday on the beautiful grounds of Melarry Farms in Rice, MN. Spencer & Stacey Hackett and Tracy Schaefer & Karla Smieja comprise the partnership of Scha-Kett Holsteins, who were the hosts of the sale. Friday night, a pre-sale pizza social was held, and on Saturday they provided a pork chop dinner for attendees. The sale ended with an average of $2,985 on 99 lots.
Lot 103, Melarry Classic Dove-Red-ET, sold to Robert & Randy Nigh for $29,000 and was the high seller of the day. Dove is classified EX-90 @ 3-04 and is the current #2 CTPI Red cow of the breed with a CTPI +1963 and #3 NM Red cow of the breed at +$469. She is sired by Poos Stadel Classic-Red and out of the #1 CTPI Red cow of the breed, Jim-Jamdl Marmax D-Red-ET VG-88 DOM. Currently a donor dam, she sold ready to flush along with a 6 #1 embryo contract at $1,300/embryo.
The second high seller was Lot 1, Beyercrest Fiona-ET, who sold for $8,700 to David Kenyon of Minnesota. Fiona is scored VG-88, sired by Goldwyn, and out of Beyercrest Janine-ET VG-87 DOM. She is also a donor dam who has several sons in AI and exported embryos.
