Rocky Mountain Holsteins Celebration Sale Averages $4,866

The Rocky Mountain Holsteins Celebration Sale took place at the farm in Cochrane, AB on Saturday. After a complimentary pancake breakfast was provided, the sale began and averaged $4,866 on a total of 108 lots. The sale also saw 94 live lots pass through the ring, which averaged $5,093.

Topping the sale at $42,000 was Lot 1, Gen-I-Beq Goldwyn Secret VG-87-2Y-CAN. Secret has a GLPI +2701 and is due in January to Alta Iota with a heifer calf. She is a Goldwyn out of Gen-I-Beq Durham Sherry VG-87, followed by 7 more dams scored VG or EX. Rocky Mountain Holsteins purchased their half of Secret back along with Jan Worden of Ireland.

Selling for $32,000 to Cedarwal Farms of British Columbia was Lot 13, Gillette Shottle 2nd Moon VG-87-2Y-CAN. 2nd Moon is a Shottle out of the Gypsy Grand cow family, and she has a GLPI +2623. Rocky Mountain Holsteins and Shiloh Dairy were the consignors.
