World Dairy Expo - Judges


International Holstein Show: Brian Craswell, Hunter River, Prince Edward Island, Canada
Brian Craswell, with wife Amber and children, Aleah, Abby and Jesse owns and operates Crasdale Farms, Inc., where they milk 40 cows with the assistance of herdsman Robert Buote. A successful Registered Holstein breeder, Craswell has owned and bred many notable show winners that have earned All-Canadian and All-American recognition. He is also a licensed auctioneer and owner of Brian Craswell Auctions, Ltd. Very involved in the marketing and sales business; he’s run the gavel at many major sales, including the Sale of Stars, Parade of Perfection, and the Morsan and Rocky Mountain Sales. When not working high-profile sales, he is busy judging shows. He has judged at the Royal Winter Fair, Quebec International Show, and has been called upon to officiate at international shows in the U.S., Spain, Australia, Brazil, Uruguay, Guatemala and Switzerland.


Holstein Associate: Tyler Doiron, Cap Sante, Quebec, Canada
Owner of Ty-D Holsteins, Tyler Doiron owns approximately 30 head of registered dairy cattle in partnerships with Ferme Jacobs and Crasdale. In addition to working full time at Ferme Jacobs, he has recently begun to manage high quality Holstein sales, including the Vente Classic. Originally from Prince Edward Island, Doiron worked as a herdsman at Crasdale following high school graduation. When he and Ysabel Jacobs married in 2006, they joined her family at Ferme Jacobs, where they manage 440 head, including 130 cows with a rolling herd average of 23,500 lbs. of milk, 4% fat and 3.4% protein. In the last several years, they have had six All-American and 18 All-Canadian nominations, including the 2008 All-Canadian Milking Yearling and 2008 All-American Senior-Three-Year-Old. Doiron and his wife Ysabel became parents this year, welcoming daughter, Alyson, to the family.
 

Grand International Red & White Show: Brian Carscadden, Guelph, Ontario, Canada
Raised on a registered Holstein farm in eastern Ontario, Brian Carscadden is a sire analyst for Semex, purchasing bulls across Ontario and the north central United States as well as in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Prior to becoming a sire analyst, he enjoyed many successes as a professional fitter, working for top breeders around the world. His judging assignments have taken him to 20 different countries. Carscadden has judged numerous shows in the US and Canada, judging the 2009 Royal Winter Fair Red & White Show and the 2008 International Holstein Show at World Dairy Expo. He remains active with various youth programs. He promotes youth involvement in the Semex Walk of Fame, which he coordinates each year at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair and World Dairy Expo. He and his wife Linda have three children; Craig, Lauren and Colin.


Red & White Associate: Quim Serrabassa Vila, Tona, Barcelona, Spain
Quim Serrabassa Vila is the owner and general manager of Triangle Holstein. For the past fifteen years, Serrabassa has worked with dairy producers to provide genetic mating services, cattle selection, advice on reproductive programs and prepared cattle for show. His fitting career acquainted him with other well-known professionals and dairy cattle breeders from around the world, affording him opportunities to work national and international shows in the United States, Canada and throughout Europe. For the past eight years Serrabassa has been on staff at Belgium’s European Young Breeders School. He and his brother own the family farm, Comas Novas, in Vic, Barcelona Spain. He’s experienced success in the show ring himself, exhibiting champions in Spain, France and Switzerland. He’s also stood in the center of the ring. In 2009, he judged the Young Breeders Competition at SIMA in Paris. Serrabassa and his wife Sylvia have two children, Roger and Julia.
