The Island Heat Wave Summer Sale Was Hot!

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island was definitely hot on Friday, August 13th, as Eastside Holsteins hosted the Island Heat Wave Summer Sale. Friday the 13th did not affect this sale average as it totaled $8262.25 on 103 lots. Bloyce Thompson and family included a number of animals from their Eastside Holsteins herd, along with a group from the Androscoggin milking herd dispersal and a few other top-notch guest consignments.

Gene Iager of Fulton, MD, took home Lot #1 as the top lot for $160,000, which was consigned by Eastside Holsteins. Lot #1 was Brackleyfarm Goldwyn Stella, an 89-point Goldwyn x EX-91 Lindy x VG-88 Integrity, who was named All-Atlantic Junior 2-Year-Old in 2008. She marked a new high record in the Maritime provinces as the most expensive Holstein sold at public auction.

Lot #4, a First Choice Sanchez x All-American & All-Canadian Eastside Lewisdale Gold Missy (VG-89), was the second top lot at $55,000. Eastside Holsteins and Lewis Bros, Missy’s breeders, purchased the choice of 10 calves due in March, 2011, which was consigned by the Missy Syndicate of Ponoka, AB.
