New Haplotype
Holstein Association USA: A new Haplotype Impacting Fertility (HH6) was discovered by French researchers, and first reported on at the 2018 International Committee for Animal Recording (ICAR) meeting. HH6 results will be delivered by the Council on Dairy Cattle Breeding (CDCB) with the other haplotypes starting in December 2018, and results will be available for all genomic tested animals at that time. Holstein breeders may find the status of their animals using the Family Tree Search on the HAUSA web site, or Enlight® users may also find the information there. READ MORE
CDCB: Progress Requires Change
A great step of progress in dairy cattle improvement was taken with the December 2018 genomic evaluations, which utilize the more robust 80k SNP and the new-and-improved genome assembly. With progress, change can be expected, and production traits and Net Merit for some bulls may be noticeably affected in the December evaluations.

Congratulations to the team at Siemers Holsteins! Holstein Association USA announced it's 2018 dams receiving GMD and DOM status, one of the highest honors awarded in the breed. The breeding program of Siemers Holsteins had 35 new Gold Medal Dams and five new Dam of Merits, a tremendous accomplishment. Several backed by the Cherry Crest Manoman Roz family.
