Matriarchs of the Breed Sale Held

Bringing in a gross of $431,000, the Matriarchs of the Breed Sale ended up averaging $4,634 on 93 lots sold this past Saturday, August 28th. Doug and Melanie Nifong of Me-Do Meadows hosted the successful sale at their farm in Orfordville, WI.

Topping the sale at $100,000 was Lot 1, R-Z Baxter Caramel-ET (VG-88). Caramel is a Baxter out of the famous Ralma Juror Faith cow family and sold with numerous contracts for bulls and embryos. Her dam is Ralma Goldwyn Carmel-ET (VG-89 EX-MS), 2nd Dam is Ralma Christmas Cookie-ET (VG-89 EX-MS DOM), 3rd Dam is Ralma Christmas Fudge-ET (VG-88 GMD DOM), and her 4th Dam is Juror Faith herself. Caramel was consigned by Robert Goldmann of Iowa and purchased by Danny-Pierre Rondeau, Ferme Gillette, and Ferme Maryclerc of Quebec, Canada.

Lot 7, a 1st choice female out of Quality-Ridge Stormi Hazel (2E-95) and sired by either Atwood or Goldwyn, sold for $16,600 for the second-high seller of the day. With Hazel being fresh again and looking better than ever, the choice seemed to be a good purchase for All-America Dairy in New York. The consignor was the Hazel Syndicate of Preston, CT.
