Cows Scored EX-95 or Higher in 2020
Within the United States in 2020, thirty-six Holstein females were scored 95-points or higher. One female earned the final score of EX-97, while five females scored EX-96. Udder scores ranged from 93 to 97 points with most females earning 95 or 96 udder score points.
Of this high scoring group, seven were red. Patience Showline Contender-Red (80HO06002) was the most prevalent red sire, with two daughters in the group. The highest scoring red and white female was Miss Apple Snapple-Red with a score of EX-96 96-MS. Snapple-Red is a Redburst-Red daughter direct from KHW Regiment Apple-Red EX-96 and owned by MilkSource Genetics in Wisconsin.
Braedale Goldwyn (200HO03205) sired the most females on the list with six daughters appearing. Of these daughters three were out of Dundee dams and three more had Linjet granddams. The highest scoring black and white female was Rosiers Blexy Goldwyn with a score of EX97 97-MS. Blexy is sired by Goldwyn, out of an EX-90 Dundee dam and from an EX-90 Triumphant granddam. She is owned by Budjon, Vail, Abbott, Van Exel and Woodmansee of Wisconsin.
Budjon & Peter Vail, Ernest Kueffner, Triple-T Holsteins & Family, and MilkSource Genetics tied for the most females on this list, each having two high scoring cows. Most EX-95 or higher cows came from the eastern and Midwest states, each with seventeen and sixteen cows respectively. Wisconsin was the highest scoring state with twelve EX-95 or higher females. New York state was a close second with eight females residing there. California, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Tennessee are represented with one cow from each state making the list.
Over the course of the year three females who scored 95-points or higher were also out of dams having earned that same ranking. Miss Apple-Snapple-Red joined her dam, KHW Regiment Apple-Red EX-96, and granddam, Kamps-Hollow Altitude RC EX-95. T-Triple-T Petunia and T-Triple-T Platinum joined their dam, T-Triple-T Dundee Paige EX-96. Petunia is owned by Colton J Thomas, while Platinum is owned by Triple-T Holsteins, Aaron Eaton and Bradley Murphy, all of Ohio.
