2011 Canadian Cow of the Year Finalists Announced

Holstein Canada is pleased to announce the four animals selected to compete for the covenant Cow of the Year award for 2011. This award is presented annually by Holstein Canada at the National Holstein Convention. Nominations were sought in late fall 2011 and the Cow of the Year Selection Committee recently chose four finalists who will vie for the prestigious title.

The four finalists selected represent what the Cow of the Year competition aims to achieve— recognize a Canadian-bred animal that is well-balanced; showcases longevity, production, genetic merit, strength of pedigree; and be a good Ambassador of Canadian genetics.

The four finalists for the 2011 Cow of the Year competition are as follows:

Breeder: Ferme Gillette Inc., Embrun, ON
Owners: Ferme Gillette Inc., Embrun, ON and T-Wave Holsteins, Hokkaido, Japan
